Position Title:              Senior Planning Engineer
Employee Level:         Supervisory
Report to:                    Project Manager
Location:                     Site Construction - Qatar

Job Overview

  

The Planning Engineer is responsible for all functions relating to planning, scheduling and reporting. The Senior Planning Engineer maintains continuous communication, interaction and coordination with the Construction team including subcontractors. The Senior Planning & Scheduling Engineer shall report to the Contractor’s Project Manager and shall be responsible to monitor the progress of works at site and report accurately the progress, delays, critical activities, constraints, bottle-necks, etc.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Takes a lead in preparing schedule data for proposals or contract negotiations as requested and checks and confirms that the correct scope of work is reflected on assigned schedules.

  2. Integrates inter-discipline schedule requirements and constraints to establish logical work sequences for assigned disciplines or specialties.

  3. Act as an independent auditor to verify the performance of construction progress reported by the Construction team.

  4. Reviews and assesses the work sequences for all trades with the total project plan.

  5. Establishes and implements methods for determining activity durations within assigned disciplines or specialties.

  6. Develops quantity release and/or installation curves for assigned disciplines/areas or specialties.

  7. Reviews and approves invoice verification for payment based on cost-loaded schedules, as required.

  8. Reviews schedule data, identifies and acquires information needed to complete work logics to interface between assigned disciplines, specialties and/or projects.

  9. Develops specific project codes of accounts and work breakdown structures and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions for new work items assigned.

  10. Determines critical-path activities for assigned discipline or specialties and identifies significant activities supporting inter- discipline requirements and identifies critical path for discipline or specialty work activities.

  11. Identifies, analyzes and monitors schedule deviations for assigned disciplines or specialties including subcontractor submittals and recommends corrective action/work-around solutions for project considerations.

  12. Develops and writes the schedule commentary that appears in the monthly progress and similar reports. Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule and prepares and presents the Critical Items Action Report.

  13. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate under the direction of the Project Manager.

  14. Liaise with clients and consultant teams pertaining to project schedules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

  • Minimum 15 years of experience as a Planning/ Scheduling Engineer in a construction environment.

  • Well versed with Oracle Primavera Project Manager

  • UPDA Certified in Qatar.

  • PSP Certified, MBA is an advantage.
